Sony VAIO PC Design Contest Wins Two REGGIE Awards

PowerPact takes home two Bronze trophies

New York – March 12, 2009 – PowerPact, the forward-thinking promotions and shopper marketing agency, together with Sony Electronics Inc. announced today that the VAIO My Graphic Splash PC Design Contest is the recipient of two 2009 REGGIE Awards. The contest challenged consumers to create their own lid design for the new line of VAIO Graphic Splash Collection notebooks.

This multi-winner program was awarded bronze in the categories of National Consumer Program (under $1 million) and Digital Program (under $1 million). The REGGIE Awards, presented by the Promotion Marketing Association, is the industry's highest honor recognizing the best work in super thinking, creativity, execution and results across the entire spectrum of integrated marketing.

PowerPact, together with Sony, created the contest via an online effort and in-store promotion. With a chance of winning $5,000, a VIP trip to New York City, and have their design sold on Sonystyle.com, consumers were encouraged to express themselves through art and submitting their original lid designs. The contest featured three key elements. First, design entries submitted on vaiomygraphicsplash.com, followed by celebrity judges Lauren Conrad, Maya Hayuk, and Kelly Nishimoto narrowing down the designs to the top eight finalists. Then, consumers voted on their favorite design to determine the top three Grand Prize winners.

Winners received an all-expense-paid trip to New York, where their designs were unveiled and they got to meet the panel of celebrity judges. And, their winning expressions were made into limited edition VAIO FW notebooks.

"The development and success of the VAIO My Graphic Splash Contest was extraordinary and the response from consumers was overwhelming. Receiving two Reggie Awards for the promotion proves that the collaboration between Sony and PowerPact was a winning combination," said Rosie Sandoval, Sony VAIO Marketing Communications Manager.
