TouchStorm Releases New Digital Content Featuring Nigel Barker

Videos distributed across the web for Sony®

New York, January 14, 2010 – TouchStorm, the digital video solutions company, announced today its latest release of Howdini® videos featuring professional photographer and "America's Next Top Model" judge Nigel Barker. In the videos, commissioned by Sony, Barker helps consumers learn how to take better photos with their digital cameras and camcorders. The videos are being widely distributed across the web and can already be found on sites like Glam, Hulu, Dailymotion, TiVo, TV Guide online, YouTube, Howdini.com, SonyStyle.com and numerous blogs.

Sony contracted TouchStorm to first figure out what are the most popular photo-taking search topics. According to TouchStorm's own Search Revelator study – taking pictures of kids, babies, pets and weddings are some of the most popular – for web content in the consumer electronics category. TouchStorm then produced a series of ten videos to answer those and other popular consumer questions. The Barker videos, whose topics include: "How To Take Better Baby Photos," "…Great Holiday Photos," and "...Great Pet Photos," don't overtly sell product; Barker's advice can be applied to any camera.

TouchStorm is distributing the Barker videos for Sony, along with other content it makes, to a vast network of television partners and websites that reach more than 400mm uniques a month, including ABC NewsNow, Hulu, Comcast, GLAM Media, iTunes, Dish Network, TVGuide.com, Disney Family.com, TiVo, Verizon FiOS and Yahoo! TouchStorm also distributes content to smaller websites, an expansive network of bloggers, and vertical networks customized by topic. The result of broad editorial placement of Howdini videos and TouchStorm's search engine optimization efforts typically help the videos do well in organic search, enabling the brand to use its hard-earned expertise to be there with the answer when the consumer has a question.

"We've been reporting the reach and engagement of our editorially-distributed videos for about 18 months now, and we know that our method yields greater and more reliable reach than other methods of video distribution, including viral, placement on a brand's home site, and placing the video on social media sites," said Alison Provost, CEO of PowerPact Holdings, TouchStorm's parent company. "We help brands harness their own expertise to help the consumer; the result is great content that publishers choose to feature."
